"IJN implemented Speed SMS in Nov 2006. Every patient with appointment will be reminded 3 days in advance of their appointment date via SMS automatically sent out by the system. After we implemented this system, we received good remarks from patients. They were all very happy to receive this reminder; otherwise they may have forgotten about their appointment. Quite often, the appointment is made months in advance, and the patient will not remember the exact date. Some patients who remember the appointment at the last minute may not be able to arrange the trip to KL on time as many of our patients are interstate. With the reminder, the patient can come in a day in advance to have their blood test done, and then during the visit with the doctor /consultant, the blood test result is ready. Speedminer has improved the efficiency of our clinics and reduced the patients' absence.

Ad-Hoc reminder is also used by IJN to remind patients to bring guarantee letters and other reminders.

In operation, Speed SMS is also used to check the "heart beat" of our database shadowing. When the process is down, the system will automatically send the reminder to the technical staff.
