Success Story of PASAK’s Talent Perak


Background

Pusat Aspirasi Anak Perak (PASAK) is a government agency wholly owned by the Perak State Government and is part of the HR Committee portfolio. PASAK plays an important role in managing vacancies in the State of Perak which aims to assist job seekers, especially the Perak Natives, to produce a skilled workforce that can meet the needs of various industry sectors as well as to improve the socio-economic status in Perak.

In addition, PASAK has been selected as one of the main lead agencies and implementing agencies for the Malaysian TVET Corridor in the State of Perak.

One of the high-impact programs organized by PASAK is the mega career carnival, which brought together roughly 58 business leaders in the State of Perak and provided up to 10,000 opportunities.

Problem Statement

Even while PASAK effectively serves as a conduit between employers and job seekers, there is no official website for a centralised database of available positions. This means there is a lack of ability of traditional database software to collect, store, manage and analyze it.

Data collection is carried out manually using Microsoft Excel, which adds to the processing time. This is especially true for saving the information from applicants who submit their resumes in hard copy, which delays the release of some results.

Also, it takes a while to screen employees, and updating the employer’s record after an interview requires manual contact.

Finally, it is challenging to obtain the most recent reports (in real time) on extensive relevant information.


Achievements

Using our Web Application Framework(empowered by EliteSys), Speedminer  developed  Talent Perak application, which is an online career platform, to fast-track job seekers to find employment in the state. Job seekers can now log on to search for vacancies online according to demographic categories, industry, studies and positions that are closer to the user’s location.

The platform is accessible for administrators, employers, and job seekers via the internet at https://talentperak.my. The administrator can configure and set up for a PASAK-organized event. Employers can register their businesses and open positions to post job openings on the platform. The application can be downloaded onto mobile phones from the Google Play Store and Apple App Store. 

With the help of the Job Nearby Me feature, job seekers may also find openings in their area using a Google Map interface

Job seekers can post their resumes to the site, which can then be used to register for events hosted by PASAK and submit applications for open positions for employers to view and download.

This Talent Perak platform as a System-based software:

  • The ability to quickly gather, store, manage and analyze the employment database.
  • Display Up-to-date reports (in real-time) on important comprehensive information/resources such as the number of employees employed by the industry
  • Have centralized job database for the agency and Perak State Government.
  • To assist the Perak State Government in addressing the problem of the unemployment rate as well as statistical data on human resources in Perak State.
